In partnership with the Museums, Libraries and Archives East Midlands (MLA East Midlands) and All Saints Primary School, Wellingborough Heritage Centre has developed a loans box of objects and documents to support the teaching of Local Study related topics across the National Curriculum.

Looking Down Midland Road from town centre. 1960sThe idea behind this loans box is to provide access to the collections and archives of Wellingborough Heritage Centre. In doing so we hope to provide an effective tool for learning within schools and the local community. The handling of original artefacts and copies of original documents included in this resource will allow pupils to gain a valuable insight into the lives of those who lived in on Midland Road in Wellingborough in 1861, 1901 and 1961 and enable students to compare and contrast these fascinating periods in the road’s history in the town.

This resource primarily focuses on Midland Road in Wellingborough. However Wellingborough Heritage Centre also holds a variety of sources of information and resources about the local history of Wellingborough. It will be possible to adapt a number of the suggested activities within this pack to incorporate the information provided by Wellingborough Heritage Centre on your local area.
