Flood at Derby Silk Mill November 2000

Both earlier in its history and more recently, the Silk Mill has been a victim of flood water from the River Derwent. This may have happened regularly in the past, and other parts of the town were also seriously affected in the 1930s and 1960s. Museum staff had a rude awakening on 6 November 2000 when the river again entered the building, to a depth of 14 inches (36 cms)
