Children who visit The Collection have a unique learning experience that cannot be replicated in the classroom. Nothing compares to seeing or touching the real thing, whether it is a painting or an object made hundreds, or even thousands of years ago.

Schools who visit are provided with a stimulating programme of exciting and innovative cross-curricular learning opportunities that support the National Curriculum.

On Demand

There are now many options for you to enjoy your visit.

Our on-demand service means that you can book KS2 Romans, Vikings, Anglo-Saxons, Medieval Life, Tudors and all the listed KS1 & KS2 Art workshops any time of the year.

Themed Weeks and Topic Days

In addition there are full day Roman, Viking and Egypt themed weeks and topic days that involve both the museum and Art Gallery to provide stimulating full-day workshops for KS1 & KS2.

The Big Dig

The new ‘Big Dig’ offers children a chance to ‘discover’ real and replica objects for themselves in a safe, clean environment.
