Mill Stones in Hough Mill
The versatile site of Swannington Heritage Trusts' Hough Mill has enabled the development of a Key Stage 2 focussed day-long visit. The day is split into two, allowing pupils to investigate the renovated Hough Mill site as well as the surrounding environment which has been landscaped by years of coal mining.

A variety of activities have been developed for both the mill and the surrounding landscape which require pupils to use their investigative skills as well as enabling them to take part in numeracy and drama activities.

Site of Califat Mine

Included within the visit activities is the opportunity for pupils to act out a prepared drama session about the Califat Mining Disaster of 1863 on the actual site of the disaster.
