Peach or Poach supports a full day schools visit to Rutland County Museum. Devised for years 5/6, it covers Victorian social history and involves persuasive writing, handling, role-play, hot-seating and debate.

Morning Session

This session generates a dialogue between the museum officer and the teacher and pupils. This leads into a number of activities such as; singing ballads, literacy activities and handling sessions.


Afternoon session

Leaving Museum walk to Oakham Castle for (packed) lunch, experience prison-life, including food (optional), hear about contemporary punishments. Re-enact the trial by role-play and hot-seating (optional dressing-up), followed by structured debate.
