The cottages at Ruddington Framework knitters' Museum are displayed to illustrate living conditions in both 1850 and 1900.
1850 Cottage
Its sparse furnishings are based mainly on the evidence provided by Samuel Parker and others in the Enquiry into the Conditions of the Framework Knitters. This back-to-back cottage has just one room on each of the three floors, the attic bedroom being reached by a ladder.
1900 Cottage
This 'through' cottage was occupied by the Parker family, three generations of which had lived on the site, progressing from knitters to hosiers managing the frameshops.
