The Valentine Tank was designed by the Vickers Company with production begining in 1938. The initial designs for the Valentine were rejected by the British Army. With the outbreak of World War Two the Army was forced to change its decision.
The Valentine served with the 16th/5th Queen's Royal Lancers and 17/21st Lancers in North Africa. During the North African campaigns the Valentine gained the nickname 'Tommy Cooker' due to the tank's inferior armour.
