Embroidered Tudor cap from Wollaton Hall c. 1590

This cap was hand made for a very wealthy man to wear. We know it came from Wollaton Hall and was almost certainly worn by Sir Francis Willoughby.
We know from house records that embroidery was often the work of noblewomen. This cap was very likely made by Sir Francis’s wife or one of his daughters.
