Machine sewing the welt on a shoeNorthampton has a proud history of shoe manufacturing and to celebrate this Northampton Museum's Hidden Histories project has recorded the memories of local people who worked in the industry from 1948 to the present day. This teaching and learning package draws on their stories and other sources, and uses the interactive Northampton's Shoemakers Remembered as a starting point.

The pack meets objectives from the History and Citizenship schemes of work as well as the Literacy framework and supports pupils' investigation of how a local industry and its community has changed in 60 years.
