Lutterworth Museum have developed a number of locally focussed loans boxes containing objects, photographs, census information and historical documents relating to Lutterworth and the surrounding area. It was during the development of these boxes that pupils from Lutterworth Grammar School became involved.

Lutterworth Grammar School's Enterprise Centre is located next to Lutterworth's One Stop Shop, which houses the Lutterworth Museum Collection. The well developed community connection between the two organisations provided the perfect opportunity for the students to become involved in the project.

The two Local Study loans boxes, which focus on the two years of 1901 and 1968 (the years that Rail and the M1 motorway came to Lutterworth) have been developed as part of an education programme in partnership with MLA East Midlands. The loans boxes have been designed to be used by local primary and secondary schools studying the local history of the area. The boxes contain a wide variety of resources that can be used in a number of cross-curricular ways, some of which are suggested in an accompanying Teacher's Book.

A range of objects relevant to Lutterworth's past were chosen from the museum's collection and were added  with objects from the Leicestershire Museums, Arts and Records Service 'Resource Box' project, located in Lutterworth's Sherrier Centre.

With the objects decided upon the next task was to develop the cases to hold the museum artefacts, which is where the Lutterworth Grammar School pupils came in. The equipment available at the school's Enterprise Centre and the students' skills at using that equipment enabled them to produce the carry cases to hold the loans objects. And what a fantastic job they have done!
